Tacos?  I looove tacos.  The opportunity to try out tacos from the soon-to-be-open Tres Carnales?  I'm there.

On Thursday night (May 5th) Red Star Pub hosted a Cinco de Mayo party featuring $2 tacos from Tres Carnales and great specials on mexican cerveza.  Trev and I figured it would be pretty busy there, so we showed up at 8:00 and snagged an excellent table right by the window.  Our friends Allison and Vince joined us around 8:45 and by that time it was starting to get busy.  The taco station started up some time after 9:00, and a massive line formed instantly.  The bar was packed...shoulder-to-shoulder...everyone anticipating the delicious tacos.  Tres Carnales was handing out these great luchador masks on sticks to the crowd.  Seriously, we're all adults, but who doesn't love a little bit of dress-up once in a while?

When Allison and I made it to the front of the line we handed over our cash and picked our tacos (Trev and Vince were holding the table for us).  There were three varieties to choose from: vegetarian, pork or beef.  They made them up as fast as they could, then we added some chopped onion, fresh cilantro and lime juice.  All of the varieties were good...my favorite?  Hmmm, either veggie or pork, it's a close call.  The tacos were great and I can only imagine how good they'll be once Tres Carnales is cooking in their own kitchen.

I need to comment that the servers at Red Star are fantastic.  Our server returned to our table regularly to see if we needed any more beers, despite the massive crowd that made it almost impossible to move in there.
